What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray_Key) is a Japanese word meaning 'Universal Life Energy'  A system of natural healing which evolved in Japan form the experience and dedicationof Dr. Maikao Usui (d.1926).

He was inspired to develop the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai from ancient teachings after many years of study, research and 21 days meditation on Mount Kurama where he recieved the Reiki Symbols used today.  He spent the rest of his life practicing and teaching Reiki.

Today, Reiki continues to be taught by Reiki Masters who have trained in the Usui tradition passed from Master to Student, each with their own unique lineage.  There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can recieve or learn to give a treatment.  The only prerequisite is the desire to be healed.

How can Reiki help?
Every person and animal has chakras that run through the body and each one is represented by colours.  These are the areas that a Preactitioner will work on, smoothing the flow of energy and either increase or decrease as needed to balance the natural flow and rythm of the body
.

In its basic form, Reiki healing can relax or revive the person or animal receiving the treatment.  Most people find it very invigorating which helps to carry the healing energy to the places in the body where it is needed the most.  Others just fall into a deep relaxing restful sleep during treatment.

Many horses and animals find Reiki relaxing and get quite sleepy, however, Nicole's geldings get all buzzy after they have had Reiki.  Other horses that are very stressed can snap and bite at the energy flow but soon calm and begin to lick and chew.  Cats, dogs and other animals can benefit from a treatment in the same way.

If you would like to try Reiki for the first time and are concerned about what a treatment entails, please call Nicole on 07857 617263 and she can talk you through the whole process and put your mind at rest.
